Abstract:

This presentation will introduce a new project, launched last December, which is being carried out by four universities across Europe, based in Latvia, Poland, Spain and Finland, funded primarily by the EU Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education (KA220-HED) programme. The aim of the project is to boost university education on sustainability in the partner universities and beyond, by creating an innovative ESP/EAP course, consisting of Reusable Learning Objects, which will benefit the ESP/EAP teachers’ community. In this presentation, we will explain the rationale behind the project, our approach to this subject matter, the project website including some sample materials. In addition, the participants of the Communication Skills Workshop will be invited to investigate the available resources, engage with the materials, meet the collaborating teachers and experts, raise questions, and provide comments as well as suggestions in this early phase of the project, and will be able to sign up for our newsletter and online webinars. The ESAP forum, a feature to be attached to the website, will host a channel for sharing best practices and resources, posing questions and discussions, designed to serve the professional development of practitioners, teachers of English and teachers teaching in English addressing the topic of sustainability. The ultimate aim of the project is to benefit students participating in ESAP courses across the disciplines and across borders, and thus promote graduates’ green competences and future skills.
